What is a Therapeutic Activity?
Therapeutic activities are tasks that improve your ability to perform activities of daily living. Therapeutic activities involve dynamic movements and require the patient to engage in a functional task such as:
- Walking
- Sitting to standing position
- Throwing a ball
- Pushing a cart
- Brushing your hair
- Opening a door
- and even activities like cooking.
How are Therapeutic Activities and Therapeutic Exercises Different?
Therapeutic activities involve functional or real life movements. Whereas therapeutic exercises involve one single parameter of an activity such as strength, balance, flexibility, or endurance.
It is helpful to think of therapeutic exercises as the precursor or path to completing therapeutic activities.
